Friction generates a space between two sides, and that is where things actually happen: the waiting, the negotiation, the exchange. It doesn’t sit on the line, it grows out from it in both directions. That is what I call the threshold, and I am interested in how it gets made.

El frottage, el dibujo, la pintura y el grabado permiten que una superficie deje su huella directamente sobre la tela y el papel. Lo que surge nunca es una copia. La repetición intensifica algunas partes y desgasta otras, y una vez que se presiona una estructura, deja de cumplir su función original: ya no separa nada, simplemente mantiene una forma que puede volver a trabajarse. El motivo a veces se salta el borde del lienzo y continúa hacia la pared. El trabajo no queda oculto.

Prefiero habitar el umbral antes que resolverlo. Es ahí donde tiene lugar la conversación.
